JMF TEAMS INFORMATION

Ironman Western Australia and the Official Charity, the John Maclean Foundation are pleased to hold this special event in conjunction with Ironman Western Australia - the "John Maclean Foundation Teams Event".

This special teams event will be held on Sunday 7 December 2008 and will take place at the same time and on the same course at Ironman Western Australia Triathlon. Ironman Western Australia is the only Ironman event in the world that has a Teams Event component, putting it in a class of its own.

Team Member Substitution Policy

Refund Policy (TEAMS POLICY)

  • Withdrawals received before 5 December 2008 - $200 cancellation fee applies
  • Withdrawals received after 5pm 5 December 2008 – NO REFUND
  ENTRIES FOR ALL TEAMS CLOSE ON 24 OCTOBER 2008

TEAMS – RULES

  1. A team can be made up of 2 or 3 people and any combination of male and female athletes is permitted;
    a. the swimmer to complete the 3.8km swim course
    b. the cyclist to complete the 180.2km bike course
    c. the runner to complete the 42.2km run course
  2. Cut Off Times:
    a. Swim – 2 hours 15 minutes after Teams Race Start
    b. Bike – 10 hours 15 minutes after Teams Race Start
    c. Run – 16 hours 45 minutes after Teams Race Start
  3. Should a Team swimmer and/or cyclist fail to complete their leg within the cut off time the Team will be allowed to continue in the event but will be classified as Did Not Finish (DNF). Where the swimmer misses the cut off the cyclist will be the last competitor to commence the bike leg; where the cyclist misses the cut off the runner will be the last competitor to commence the run leg.
  4. Should a Team runner fail to complete the course within the cut off time the Team will be classified as Did Not Finish (DNF).
  5. Trophies will be awarded to the winning team in each of the following categories:
    a. All Male Team
    b. All Female Team
    c. Mixed Team
    d. Corporate Team
  6. Each Team member will receive a “JMF Teams Competitor Souvenir Medal” provided the team is has not been disqualified or classified as Did Not Finish (DNF). Team members will be required to return their medals if the Team is subsequently disqualified by the Race Referee after finishing.
  7. Online entry form must be completed and payment received by close of entries – 26 October 2007. Please nominate a Team Captain to complete the online entry form on behalf of your Team.
  8. To enter as a “Team – TA member”, all 3 competitors must be TA members with no exceptions.
  9. It is the responsibility of the Team Captain to ensure all team members are acquainted with each other’s personal details and contacts for emergency purposes and be fully aware of the entry and waiver conditions.
  10. All Team members should acquaint themselves with the Competitor Information Booklet applying to all competitors in the race which is available for download on the Ironman WA website.
  11. Substituting of Team members will be allowed up to 28 November 2008 and must be advised in writing to the Race Organisers on or before, Friday 28 November 2008.
  12. If a team member of a 2-person team withdraws on or after Saturday 6 December 2008 the entire team will be withdrawn and no refund of Team entry will apply.
    If a team member of a 3-person team withdraws on or after Saturday 6 December 2008 the team can elect to compete as a 2-person team but cannot substitute another person to replace the withdrawn competitor. If the team elects NOT to compete as a 2-person team the entire team will be withdrawn and no refund of Team entry will apply.
  13. Teams will be identified on Race Day by:
    a. Swim - separate "Teams" start and special coloured swim caps
    b. Bike - yellow Race bib with race number prefixed by "T" e.g. "T001"
    c. Run - yellow Race bib with race number prefixed by "T" e.g. "T001"
  14. $300 from every Team entry is a direct donation to the John Maclean Foundation and is tax deductible. Please email Trent Taylor for a tax receipt - trent@synergysport.com.au

TEAMS - REGISTRATION/INCLUSIONS IN ENTRY FEE

  • ALL team members must attend the compulsory Competitor Race Briefing that will be held at 9.30am on Saturday 6 December in the Function Marquee in the Ironman Village.
  • Following the Competitor Race Briefing ALL team members must attend a Team Orientation at the Teams Assembly Area Marquee located at the rear of the Transition/Registration Marquee in the Ironman Village. This orientation will be conducted by the Ironman WA Teams Co-ordinator.
  • Registration for the JMF Teams Event will be held on Saturday 6 December immediately after the above two meetings at the Teams Assembly Area Marquee.
  • One member of each Team is to register on behalf of their team and this should ideally be the Team Captain who is responsible for distribution of the relevant compulsory items required for Race day.
  • Each Team will receive one Kit Bag per team which will include:
  • Sponsor information and promotional material
  • 3 x JMF T-shirts (Sizes available – S,M,L,XL – as nominated on entry form)
  • Items required for Race Day i.e. ID wristbands, swim cap, race bibs, timing chip, bike number plate, helmet number, reflective tape etc.
  • The Team entry fee includes entry to the Awards Function on Monday 8 December 2008 for each Team member via their Team Competitor Wristband (Please note – entry to the Carbo Party on Friday 5 December is not included in entry fee).
  • The Cyclist must check–in his / her own bike in along with individual competitors on Saturday 6 December between 1.00pm and 4.00pm and rack it in their allocated team position in the designated Teams area within the Bike Compound. Have the bike number plate attached to the bike so that it is visible on the right hand side. (Do NOT check in the helmet but attach the helmet number to the front of the helmet and bring it to Race day registration).
  • ALL team members MUST present photo identification as part of the registration process for the event. The team members must be the persons advised to the Race Organisers as at 28 November; any of those members not racing will result in the team being excluded from competition.

Saturday 6 December

The team representative, ideally the Team Captain, who is registering on behalf of his/her team MUST present his/her photo identification to the IMWA Teams Co-coordinator or the registration personnel otherwise the team will not be registered. Where the team representative is unable to produce his/her photo identification during the registration window he/she MUST gain approval from the IMWA Teams Co-coordinator for the team to register on race morning. No other reason will be accepted for a team not being able to register on Saturday.

The team representative registering the team will have his/her wrist band attached at that time and will be responsible for ensuring the other team members have his/her wrist band attached prior to entering the Teams Marquee on Sunday 7 December.

Sunday 7 December

ALL team members MUST report to the Teams Marquee with wrist band attached during the time period nominated in the Rules and Regulations according to the segment he/she is completing.

Any team that did not register on Saturday due to not being able to produce photo identification and has been approved from the IMWA Teams Co-coordinator will be registered ONLY where all team members present his/her photo identification .

The two team members who did not register on Saturday MUST have his/her wrist band attached and present photo identification to the IMWA Teams Co-coordinator or the registration personnel as he/she enters the Teams Marquee otherwise he/she will not be allowed to compete.
