OFFICIAL EVENT MERCHANDISE – Visit the ASICS Merchandise Marquee during from Tues 1 April in Race Week to purchase your Official Ironman merchandise. Please note – the limited Finishers Range will be on sale on Monday 7 April from 8.00am
EXPO – The ASICS Expo Marquee will be open from 9.00am – 5.00pm from Thurs 3 April – Sat 5 April. All sponsors will be exhibiting their products and a visit to the Expo is a must!
EXCLUSIVE COMPETITOR VIEWING AREA ON THE FINISH CHUTE (FAMILY & FRIENDS – ALL WELCOME) Located next to the Finish Chute, there will be a prime viewing area set up for competitors and their family and friends to relax and enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of Ironman Race Night. Each competitor will receive a free Schweppes soft drink or Cool Ridge water in this area upon presentation of their Competitor Wristband. So make sure you come back to the Finish Line with your family and friends to cheer finishers home until the 17 hour cut off!
DRINKS AT FUNCTIONS Carbo Party – Friday 4 April Bottles of Cool Ridge Water and Angostura Lemon Lime & Bitters will be available on the tables, free of charge. Each competitor will receive 1 Carbo Party Drink ticket in their Competitor Kit Bag, which can be redeemed at the Bar for Schweppes soft drink or Angostura Lemon, Lime & Bitters Additional drinks (including alcohol) will be available for purchase at the Cash Bar
Awards Function – Monday 7 April Bottles of Cool Ridge Water and Angostura Lemon Lime & Bitters will be available on the tables in addition to the drink tickets. Each competitor will receive 3 x drink tickets in their Competitor Kit Bag which may be redeemed at the Bar for Hahn Super Dry Beer, Cassegrain Wine, Schweppes soft drink, and/or Angostura Lemon, Lime & Bitters. Additional alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages can be bought at anytime throughout the function at the cash bars situated throughout the Marquee.
Hahn Super Dry Meltdown (After Party) Will be held at Panthers Port Macquarie immediately after the Awards Function. There will be a DJ, a “Dirty Dancing” display (on stage), a dance competition and lots of fabulous prizes from Event sponsors - Blue Seventy wetsuits, Ryders sunglasses, Angostura rum packs, Aquasphere goggles. A great way to wind down after the big Event. And of course, plenty of Hahn Super Dry beers available!
CASSEGRAIN “IRONMAN SPECIAL OFFER” – MONDAY 7 APRIL Cassegrain invites Ironman competitors and their families to come out to the Cassegrain winery for a meal in the restaurant and enjoy the picturesque surroundings whilst recovering from Race Day. Cassegrain are happy to offer Ironman athletes a special “buy one bottle of wine, get one free” offer on Monday 7 April. Please show your Competitor Wristband to redeem this offer at the Cellar Door
REGISTRATION – BRING YOUR ID! Registration will be held at PANTHERS PORT MACQUARIE on Thurs 3 April (10am – 3pm) and Fri 4 April (10am – 4pm). Please note it is a requirement for registration to produce photo I.D. In order to save you being delayed at registration please ensure you have this I.D. with you when registering.
KONA SLOTS The entry fee for each of the 70 Hawaii qualifier slots is now US$500. If you are interested in claiming your slot (should you qualify), please make sure you have the money ready to pay upon acceptance on Monday 7 April.
‘VOICE OF IRONMAN’ – MIKE REILLY IS BACK AT PORT MACQUARIE We are pleased to welcome Mike Reilly, the ‘Voice of Ironman’, back to the Panthers Ironman Australia Triathlon. Mike will MC the Carbo and Awards Functions and be sure to listen out for Mike and our other excellent team of commentators throughout Race Day and as you cross the finish line!

Come and hear Ben speak about the work ethic and discipline required to compete in elite sport as well as overcoming one of his toughest tests, recovering from a career ending injury. BIKE FREIGHTING Unfortunately we have not been able to secure a special arrangement with Qantaslink this year, but they have assured us they have notified their Customer Service department and will do everything possible to assist all athletes in getting their bikes to Port Macquarie. Prior to your flight, please advise your airline that you will be travelling with a bike.
BIKE MECHANICS – RACE WEEK & ON COURSE Shimano mechanics will be providing a support service on race day and during race week. There will be mobile and static mechanics on the bike course.
It is imperative, however, that competitors ensure their bikes are well serviced prior to arrival in Port Macquarie. Each competitor must carry spares (tubes, singles, etc.) during the race and must not rely on the Shimano mechanics to provide these items. Each competitor is advised to carry at least one spare tube on check-in on Saturday to avoid any delay and frustration if waiting for a mechanic for supply of this item as well as valve extensions for those competitors using deep section rims. New tyres/tubes are strongly recommended.
RACE PHOTOS & COMPETITOR DVD For your personal race photos and DVD, please visit http://www.marathon-photos.com You’ll be able to order from a range of print and digital photo options and the DVD comes with a free download of your personal race footage. Order your DVD and you’ll get personal footage of your race plus general footage from the day, including race winners crossing the line. To see your photos, simply type in your race number. Orders may be placed online, with a range of secure payment options. There is an exciting range of photo and digital options, including a Photo Certificate and Race Time photo. The Digital Super Pack is a particularly popular option. It offers all identified images of an athlete in a range of ready-to-print formats. TV PROGRAM The 2008 Panthers Ironman Australia Triathlon Television Highlights program will be broadcast on Channel Nine nationally (and NBN in Port Macquarie) on Saturday 10 May at 12.30pm.
