2024 IRONMAN Australia will involve temporary Changed Traffic Conditions in Port Macquarie. Please read the information below outlining these changed traffic conditions during the event to ensure you are aware of alternative routes in place for you to access these areas and safely cross the course if necessary.

There is plenty of public parking available on event day surrounding the event. Please see our interactive map above to see areas that are free from road closures.

Key Information

Road Closures

Roads will be closed inside and around the course to ensure the safety of spectators, athletes and residents, and to facilitate the smooth running of the event.

There are also some roads with changed traffic conditions in place at the same times.

If you live along the course or your residence is inside the course footprint, it is strongly recommended that you look at the road closure information and park on streets where access will be maintained the night before competition.

Vehicle Crossing Points

A number of crossing points will be available around the course, that will enable you to enter/leave the area within the course.

Personal Deliveries

Any delivery driver or service provider will not be able to access the roads being used for the event, or the areas within the course once road closures are in place. Deliveries should be organised to avoid the road closures in place for the event.

Public Transport

There will be some changes to timetables and routes, so check here before you travel.

Pedestrian & Cyclist Access

Pedestrian and cycling access will be facilitated across the road closures at designated crossing points. Bicycles will not be permitted to cycle on the closed roads.

What if I need emergency services on the day?

We will not hinder emergency service access.

What if I am on a closed road and need to get in or out?

See if you can park your car on another road that is unimpacted, you can then walk to this when it suits

Check to see if there is a controlled crossing point nearby - this means that a traffic controller will safely get you and your car across an intersection - please allow extra time for delays here

Traffic Impact

Temporary changed traffic conditions will be in place for the IRONMAN Australia. These changes will occur from Wednesday 24 April to Thursday 10 May 2024 to ensure the safety of the public and the athletes.

Local Access Arrangements

As a Port Macquarie business / resident, the changes to normal traffic conditions will have an impact your travel during the event period, however we will work to ensure that any impacts are limited. Where possible, we ask you to make alternate travel plans during this period. However, should you need to travel, access arrangements will be in place to assist you. If you have specific travel arrangements that you would like to discuss with us, please contact us to discuss these in further detail.
